Porsche 996 wheels: Original wheels for the 911 as Carrera, Targa and Cabrio

According to the manufacturer, the Porsche 911 is the identity of the Porsche brand. The shape of the 911 is symbolic of the power, elegance and agility of the Swabian car manufacturer's sports cars. In 1997 Porsche ushered in a new era in the history of the 911 with the 996 series. The model built until 2006 was the first of its kind without fresh air cooling. Instead, Porsche opted for a water-cooled unit for the first time for the everyday car offered in the Coupé, Carrera and Targa body variants. But the boxer engine was allowed to keep its place in the rear. But not only under the hood of the Porsche 996 there were changes. On the outside, the fifth 911 generation also stands out from its predecessors. The length of the sports car grew by a good 20 centimetres to 4.44 metres. The wheelbase increased by around 8 centimetres to 2.35 metres. Together with Porsche 996 rims with wide tires, this ensured full road holding, which guaranteed driving pleasure.

More power for even faster acceleration

Like its predecessor, the Porsche 993, Porsche offered its new flagship in the Carrera and Targa models as well as a convertible for fresh air fans. The Zuffenhausen company also presented its customers with a difficult choice when it came to motorization. In addition to the 3.4-litre engine with 220 kW (300 hp) available from the very beginning and the 3.6-litre engine with 235 kW (320 hp) offered from 2002, Porsche launched the Turbo and Turbo S in 2004. With 309 kW (420 hp) and 331 kW (450 hp) respectively, the 300 km/h mark came within reach. With up to 355 kW (483 hp), only the Porsche 911 GT2 from the 996 series could bring even more power onto the road. Of course, the power also provided the best acceleration values. The Carrera 4 and Carrera S sprint to 100 km/h in around 5.0 seconds, which only the Turbo S could beat with a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Of course, tires with rims designed for high performance are in demand for such speed hunts. Only original rims for the Porsche 996 meet these requirements.

The Porsche 996 also received criticism for its visual approach to the Boxster. That this was not of long duration, however, is shown by the fact that the car is still the best-selling 911. Like its predecessors, however, it only really comes into its own in its original condition. In our shop, which specialises in original rims, we offer you a large selection of genuine Porsche 996 rims, which optimally transfer the power of the - depending on the model variant rear or all-wheel drive - sports car to the asphalt.
