The Porsche Cayenne 958, also known as Type 92A, first saw the light of day at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. With it, the Zuffenhausen-based carmaker presented the successor to the popular Cayenne. The 958 differs from its predecessor by its four centimetre longer wheelbase, the smaller cooling air openings and its headlights, which are reminiscent of the Porsche Panamera. Porsche also allowed the sporty saloon five centimetres longer and a larger boot. Above all, however, the Cayenne 958 weighs up to 90 kg less, making it even more agile than its predecessor. To save weight, Porsche replaced the heavy first-generation transfer case with an actively controlled multi-disc clutch. While the basic version, the Cayenne 958 S and the GTS are powered by a VR6 or V6 petrol engine, the Cayenne 958 Turbo and Turbo S have been powered by a V8 petrol engine with turbocharger since the 2014 model update. In its fastest version it achieves an output of 419 kW and 570 bhp. The active wheel suspension and roll stabilisation ensure absolutely smooth road holding even at top speeds.

Following model refinement, the Cayenne S E-hybrid with an output of 416 bhp reaches a top speed of an impressive 243 km/h. The model refinement also brought some visual changes. Porsche also had the rear lights and rear apron reworked and used the sports steering wheel familiar from the Porsche Spyder and Macan in the interior.
